The year has begun well. Iím already celebrating the publication of a new book for teens. Please note that.Inside is a book for young adults, not young children. Itís about seventeen year old Lee Mercer, who is in a Youth Offenders Institution for a crime he has committed.Lee is definitely guilty and he is paying the price.I researched this novel thoroughly and Iíve already had one terrific review in Inside Times, the prison newspaper. The reviewer, found it disturbingly true to life.ĎSo much so that I had to put the book aside and return to it on more than three or four occasions.í†

It was also pre-viewed in The Bookseller by Marilyn Brocklehurst of the Norfolk Childrenís Book Centre who wrote:

"Julia Jarmanís gritty Inside describes Leeís experience in a young offendersí institution. This well-researched book, which is aimed at older teenagers, is no easy rideas it illustrates the grim reality of prison life for young people. While behind bars Lee reflects on his misdemeanours and begins to recognise where he went wrong."
